HOW LINCOLN BLUECRUISE WORKS
Lincoln BlueCruise allows the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel while keeping their eyes on the road on certain roadways, while the system accelerates, brakes, and steers the vehicle in the lane. The system uses a driver-facing camera to ensure that the driver is paying attention to the road while the system is actively providing support.

When activated, a mode indicator in the display cluster will show a graphic of a steering wheel with the text “Hands-Free” when it’s safe to remove your hands from the steering wheel, then indicate when you need to put your hands back on the steering wheel to take control.

An infrared driver-facing camera will track eye gaze and head position to ensure drivers are paying attention to the road while in Hands-Free Mode. Drivers will be notified by visual prompts on their instrument cluster when they need to resume control of the vehicle.
